Armed Forces to Receive Defence Medical News by 'TEXT'
November 2006: Members of the Defence Medical Services & the British Armed Forces can now receive the latest Defence Medical News by text message.
From November 06 to February 07 the Defence Medical Services Department (DMSD) has partnered with technology company mkodo to provide a text alert trial to members signed up to the DMSD website.
Any member of the Armed Forces can choose to receive the text alerts to their mobile; which will update them instantly on the latest medical news, announcements, clinical guidance or training requirements wherever they may be serving in the world.
The text alerts will inform users of new information on the Defence Medical members website which they can login to access via the internet www.dmsd.mod.uk
DMSD currently runs an email alert system to over 4000 members of the Armed Forces providing a weekly Defence Medical news alert.
The text and email systems will allow the Armed Forces to receive instant medical news and is run by the Defence Medical Services Department Corporate Communications team.
mkodo was chosen for the trial as it is one of the leaders in SMS and mobile technology for Direct 2 Customer services.
