Middlesex University Uses mkodo for Electronic Marketing Course

July 2007: mkodo announced today that Middlesex University is incorporating SMS via mkodo into its electronic marketing lectures and coursework. The university uses the CRM Module of mkodo's powerful and proven Intelligent Mobile Platform (IMP). The CRM Module enables one way broadcast and two way interactive SMS campaigns and services.

Once his weekly lecture ends, Dr Evangelos Moustakas, Middlesex University's Lecturer in Marketing uses IMP CRM module as a tool to measure his students' understanding of his lecture. He texts the students a multiple-choice question, giving them until the following week to text back their responses. The electronic questions are used as part of the grade assessment, giving a total of 10 points for all four questions.

Dr Moustakas said, "I have been using the solution for my electronic marketing classes for almost a year and I am very pleased with the service. I use the responses as part of the grade assessment and for me it means that I can mark 150 students in a matter of minutes because the messages are instant. I also use it as a mode of communication to remind students about guest lectures and inform them about events and conferences in the area of marketing. It is fast and reliable way to demonstrate the use of latest technology for communicating.

Sue Yoxall, mkodo's executive director, said, "We are delighted to see the way companies and now universities are embracing the exciting technology we offer at mkodo. The idea behind SMS and the mkodo software is that is very versatile. mkodo is not a pure SMS messaging gateway - our value is our platform and the fact that companies can do clever interactive mobile activities with their 'customers' and have it all processed, stored, managed, collated, reported on in real-time etc via one powerful and proven interface."

mkodo's IMP platform supports all aspects of mobile messaging communications from initial broadcast to inbound receipt and context sensitive reply. The campaign message flow can be designed and implemented by the user using the IMP's flexible 'ruleset' business logic.

Clients access mkodo's services through a web based management interface. This allows them to manage various aspects of their accounts, including creating, managing and monitoring campaigns, and managing resources and users. Users can create and manage interactive campaign rule sets, run ad-hoc and scheduled broadcasts to segmented lists, view current real time interactions and manage associated data capture processes. They can extend their use to incorporate the mkodo IMP Content Module which enables integrated SMS and Mobile Web micro-site campaigns.
