RollingSound teams with mkodo to engage London’s young people
October 2008: mkodo announces that it has been selected by RollingSound to provide mobile communication services for its latest educational programme for young people.
RollingSound (www.rollingsound.co.uk) designs and delivers relevant, engaging and inspiring Multimedia courses for London and beyond. They work with ‘At Risk’ young people, school pupils and community groups to motivate, train and accredit through creative courses.
Their latest project launches with full support from Lewisham Council on 25th October 2008. The project centres around a high-spec technology lab housed on board a specially converted bus (‘The Lab’) that will tour the borough and provide weekly courses to young people in subjects such as web design and music production. Young people will not be required to pre-register but can just turn up and begin their creative studies.
The mobile channel is a key communication medium for this audience. Interested pupils can express interest by texting in to receive messages when The Lab is in their area. Once the pupils have engaged with a course, they will be sent reminders with information about the topic of the day and will have the opportunity to reply if they are unable to attend or will be late. At the end of each course, a short SMS survey will be sent to enable automatic collation of feedback on the courses.
These activities will be powered by the SMS module on mkodo’s powerful and proven mobile platform.
Hiten Thakrar, Director, RollingSound said, “The mobile channel is a natural medium for the audience we are looking to attract to the courses. The mkodo platform is ideal for us because it enables self-service usage by our team at The Lab plus can run several different activities from within the same campaign which results in a centralized data repository and reporting capabilities across all the activities.”
Sue Yoxall, Commercial Director, mkodo commented, ‘We are delighted to have worked with the RollingSound team to create a series of mobile activities that fit their key objectives for The Lab: student engagement and retention. The aim is for as many young people as possible to receive accreditation and confidence to take their studies forward.”
