mkodo sets up Hull Truck Theatre's WAP site

June 2007: mkodo announced today that the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) site that it set up for Hull Truck Theatre is now live. The Theatre uses the WAP site, which is hosted by mkodo, to communicate information such as theatre productions with show times to its audience and, most importantly, it enables ticket booking requests. The users access its information from their mobile phones.

The site complements the SMS communications that the Theatre has run using the mkodo Intelligent Mobile Platform (IMP) since 2002. The Theatre can now introduce integrated SMS and WAP activity with a production alert sent in an SMS message being linked through to more information on the WAP site.

Dulcie Ball, Hull Truck Theatre's Marketing Officer, said, "The WAP site will form an integral part of our overall multimedia marketing strategy; it equips our customers with all they need to know about our shows each month, providing an at-a-glance, easy-to digest and ultra-convenient service direct to their mobile - a kind of bitesize monthly brochure if you like! In the future, we will look to conduct audience research using the site through short surveys via an online form."

Ms Ball continued, "It's been relatively easy to set up the WAP site, and we're very pleased with how it's going so far - although it's in early stages. WAP is an essential marketing tool for entertainment venues, and I am confident that it will prove popular with our audiences; if people want to know what's on at our theatre and at what time, they can find out - anytime and anywhere - through their mobile."
