- Considerable management experience of managing technical teams working on complex projects driving demonstrable results in an Agile environment
- A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong positive mentality. Needs to be visible as a team player who is committed to lifelong learning
- An effective communicator with strong commitment to developing team members’ technical and leadership skills
- Able to build strong interpersonal relationships with peers and other senior management throughout the company

- Cloud computing knowledge including AWS, Azure and Dynamics.

mkodo has a broad and exciting technical stack. We build our own Middleware that helps our clients manage their services. These are consumed by both our Web and App solutions, and also by third parties. Our App’s are built on a strong “re-use” model and we are planning significant technical migrations through 2022/23 to further enforce this strategy.
About the Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Director of Technology and Engineering will be responsible for the overall technical vision and execution of software development across multiple platforms including iOS, Android, Webapps and our Middleware Solutions (based on Java). Your objective would be to create clarity and drive alignment within the Engineering team to achieve optimum productivity and maintain a supportive, positive and passionate culture.
This is an exciting time to join mkodo, as we develop beyond front-end only solutions and become part of the technology stack of major lotteries, along with the complementary solutions from our other PBL business units.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide strategic guidance and direction to the business on all aspects of technology
- Lead and grow a team of software developers by coaching and instilling a sense of ownership and accountability in order to build market leading applications within time and cost constraints
- Plan and oversee the development activities across various projects through their full lifecycle for delivery of scalable and high-quality software to our clients
- Ensure our ongoing Cloud strategy is aligned to our business and client goals
- Provide a strategic approach to building infrastructure that can support frequent project deployments and maintenance
- Collaborate effectively across the wider organisation to ensure all deliverables are met
- Foster a collaborative technology relationship amongst the other Business Units in the Pollard Banknote group
- Keep up to date with industry trends and provide guidance on standards, best practices for software craftsmanship and project development productivity tools
- Represent mkodo as a trusted technical advisor within the industry and community to build and maintain a strong reputation
- Offer strategic technical assistance to pre-sales activities and technical consulting projects when required for prospects and clients
